Children's Books for Tube-Fed Kids
Welcome to My Tubey Books, a colorful book series that gives children with feeding tubes characters and stories they can relate to. When my daughter was tube fed I wanted to show her other kids just like her. I hope these books will help tube fed children feel a little better about life with a tubey!
I'm a mom who writes and illustrates children's books specifically for young children with feeding tubes.
My Tubey Books are appropriate for preschoolers through about age 8. The photography book, Real Kids, Real Tubes, can be enjoyed by all ages.
I started My Tubey Books in January 2011, but the idea came to me in 2008 when I was in the thick of tube feeding life with my toddler. She was beginning to notice that she had a "tubey," and mom, dad, and big brother didn't. Nor did grandma, grandpa, cousins, or friends. At that time there were no books for tube fed children that I could find. An idea was born!
Hi! My name is Rhiannon Merritt-Rubadue and my daughter was born with severe pediatric GERD that led to her being tube fed until the age of three. There were no children's books showing other kids with tubes, so I decided to write some! I studied creative writing and earned my BA in English at the University of Washington. I live near Seattle with my husband and two children.
